A rare complication after Velpeau bandage: Hemopneumothorax

Velpeau bandage is a treatment method fixing the arm to the body in fractures and dislocations at the region of shoulder. Velpeau bandage very rarely leads to complications.
Forty five years old male admitted to the emergency service after trauma. Glenoid and multiple rib fractures were detected in radiological examinations. A transient Velpeau bandage was performed before surgical correction. Patient had dyspnoea and chest pain 24 hours after bandage application. An obvious deplacement at the rib fracture sites and hemopneumothorax were seen at chest X-ray. A chest tube was inserted to the patient. Glenoid fracture was corrected surgically. Patient was discharged at the 6th day. He has no problem at the first month readmission.

Velpeau bandajý sonrasý nadir bir komplikasyon: Hemopnömotoraks

Velpeau bandajý omuz bölgesindeki kýrýk ve çýkýklarda kolu gövdeye tespit eden bir tedavi yöntemidir. Velpeau bandajý çok nadiren komplikasyonlara yol açar.
Kýrkbeþ yaþýnda erkek hasta travma sonrasý acil servise baþvurdu. Radyolojik tetkiklerde glenoid ve multipl kaburga kýrýðý tespit edildi. Cerrahi düzeltme öncesinde geçici Velpeau bandajý uygulandý. Bandaj uygulamasýndan 1 gün sonra hastada nefes darlýðý ve göðüs aðrýsý þikayetleri baþladý. Göðüs grafisinde kaburga kýrýk bölgelerinde belirgin bir ayrýþma ve hemopnömotoraks olduðu görüldü. Hastaya göðüs tüpü yerleþtirildi. Glenoid kýrýk cerrahi olarak düzeltildi. Hasta 6. Gün taburcu edildi. Bir ay sonraki muayenesinde sorunsuzdu.
